Welcome to the community.

I recently handled escalation for the same error/warning message.

In my case :  vCenter 5.1 U2 and Backup software NetBackup 7.5

After the successful backup taken for the VM, it will generate warning "Invalid device 0" and VM stuck at failed to boot situation.

We suspected excessive permissions given for Backup Job ID and restricted them to minimal value.

Solution:   Isolate the VM's which are generating those errors and re-register them at vCenter DB

It worked well for my situation.

VMware KB: Powering on a virtual machine fails with the error: Invalid Configuration for Device 0

Thanks

Sateesh

thanks for your help guys.

i figured it out it had to do with the graphic properties. when i switched to "automatic" the message was gone.

thanks.
