Installing Server 2012 R2 onto a newly created VM?

So we are in the process of setting up our new infrastructure. We have vCenter Server 6 up and running along with two hosts on ESXi 6. We have run into an issue where we mount the Server 2012 ISO to a newly created VM and fire it up. All goes well until the installation starts up. We have no mouse support in the console. I feel like we are missing something. How are we going to get the install and config done without mouse support?

Hi,

Are you using the vSphere client or the web interface? In both the same issue?

What VM hardware version are you using? 10?

What about trying to install it using the keyboard and then install VMwareTools, does that change anything?

Hello ,

Can you please try the below steps,

  1. Open virtual machine configuration window.
  2. Go to Hardware -> Video.
  3. Put the switch for Retina displays into Scaled position. or make it default, or give the value 8 MB- 16 MB
  4. Reboot (or start) the virtual machine.
