One of my sites was having a low disk space issue (Windows 2019 server) so I opened up VMware (Edit settings) and assigned another 100GB of space to the drive D:. It was set to 250GB and I changed the number to 350GB and saved.
I opened up Windows Disk Management and right clicked on drive 😧 and selected to Extend the volume and when I did that, it told me that ‘There is not enough space available on the disk to complete this operation.
Not sure why. Any help on this one?
A Rescan doe not require a reboot. You can do that from the disk management.

Can you confirm that the additional free disk space shows up in the Windows disk management, and is adjacent to the partition that you want to expand?
A screenshot may help.

not sure why my images didn't come through on the body of the message but I've attached all of them to that previous message.
The issue is most likely related to the fact that this is a "Dynamic" disk.
From what I found with a quick search on the Internet is that some users were able to expand the disk after a Rescan.

Ok, good to know. I actually have to restart that server in the next few days so once I do that, I will see and update this post.
thanks for the suggestions.
