IT IS Possible to Create Cluster Between Physical ESXI V.5.1 AND Virtual ESXI v.4.1.0 ?

Hi,
i want to create Cluster.

i have 1 Physical sever with ESXI 5.1 And Virtual ESXI 4.1.
IS IT  Possible ? IF THE ANSWER IS NO SO
What are my Options ?

  1. 1.upgrade
    my virtual esxi 4.1 to 5.1 ?
  2. 2.install
    new virtual esxi with 5.1 ?

This is a lab environment ? Anyway it is possible if your environment (physical and virtual) meets all requirements for a vSphere cluster.

Yes Its a Lab environment.

My question is:

do i need first Installing freenas (Storage) or installing Cluster ?

Where to begin?

To avail benefits of all the cluster features such as DRS/HA etc, you need to have shared storage. First make sure you have shared datastores across both ESXi hosts. Onc eit is done, please check vMotion network is set properly.

Creating a cluster in vCenter is about some clicks, this can be done at the end.

Note: Please note that, it is not recommenced to have cluster of ESXi hosts with different version. please have 4.1 ESXi host upgraded to 5.1 or upgrade both to 5.5 latest build.
