I'm using vCenter 6.5 + vSphere 5.5; there are 2 datastores (local boot device spare space and main VM datastore device).
I want to organise my VMs and templates, and set a default VM folder to be a specific folder in the second datastore (with some VMs in other folders). Is there a UI or settings to select a default path where VMs will be saved (when created or imported), a default path for templates, and is it "safe" to move a VM to a different folder or rename a folder containing a VM?
Also is there a built-in tool in vCenter/vSphere to import/export old VMs to/from Workstation, or do I need to use the standalone converter?
Just asking before I destroy anything
