How to integrate windows AD user to already installed Vcenter server

I have installed and configured the Vcenter 5.1 and presently am using local administrator account to login vcenter server. But now i want to integrate my existing AD account to this vcenter login for giving role based access to AD users. Can anyone help me on this to resolve this?

You will have to add your AD as identity source in SSO.

Here is how you can add:

Let me know if you need any help.

Thanks for your immediate response Vicky. One more doubt on this, whether i can access local administrator user after adding to Windows AD because its a production environment. Can you clarify on this too?

Yes, You will be able to login with local admin user as well even though you have added AD as identity source. Even you can add multiple ADs as identity sources (child domains etc.).

Two things to check:

1) Are your identity sources added properly?

2) In VC, are the appropriate permissions given to the Administrator?

Hi Girish,

Thanks for your reply. Please find the comments on your queries.

1) Are your identity sources added properly? --> Yes, i have added test user and tried login with Windows AD account it got succeeded.

2) In VC, are the appropriate permissions given to the Administrator? --> I didn't changed any permission for administrator because already its logged and was in working condition only.

Yes, i am not using domain administrator login. I want to access with Vcenter server installed  local administrator login and Windows AD users login. Need to access both simultaneously.

From the error, it looks like credentials issue.

Have you tried by resetting admin password??

Also try to create a local account on center and add to vcenter and try log in.
