How can I give space back to a datastore after shrinking a windows volume

Hello Community Friends!

I have a VM that I added 50 gb to the 100 gb thick provisioned C: OS partitioin but had a change of heart. In the VM Property Settings I shrank that from 150 back down to 100.

How do I go about giving that 50gb back to the datastore? The version is ESXi 5.5

The only supported method to shrink a disk is to use VMware Converter to essentially pull out the data and create a new VM.
