  • 1.  How Can I Delete vCenter 'Core' dump Files?

I have a problem I've read about where my 'core' Hard Drive is full.  The consensus is that there is a repeating error, and that there is an error 'dump' file that multiplies until the drive is full.  I think it's the bug that'll be fixed if I update to the new version of vCenter.  However, I cannot update until I free up some place in the 'core' HD.  How can I do that?  I can log into the SHELL, but I don't see the suspect looking files when I poke around in there.

If you have a vCenter appliance, follow this to remove old logs: https://community.spiceworks.com/how_to/144372-clear-log-files-vcenter-server-appliance. If you have really set up core dump file location on a datastore, you can use the information in following: https://docs.vmware.com/en/VMware-vSphere/7.0/com.vmware.vsphere.storage.doc/GUID-0734F24A-C019-4F56-A183-BB58AA1A1390.html. or this at the host level: https://kb.vmware.com/s/article/2004299

Deleting the core dump files would be easy, just "rm /var/core/*
However, it is very important to understand which process is crashing and why it is dumping. Fixing it would be a long term solution.
Else, you can remove the file and then update the vCenter and validate the behaviour.
