Hi, I am trying to locate any information on whether or not there is a vSphere licensing level requirement for AD integration for ESXi hosts. I found one of the online VCP5 books had answers for one of their practice questions stating that Enterprise Plus was a requirement along with vCenter Standard edition. Does anyone know for sure if that is true?
If so, would you happen to have any VMware license documentation that states that?
Thanks!
I'm unaware of this requirement... and you can read more about on these links:
Configure a Host to Use Active Directory in the vSphere Web Client
Joining vSphere Hosts to Active Directory | VMware vSphere Blog - VMware Blogs
What you maybe read about Enterprise Plus is that some time we use Host Profiles to reset local root password and to use Host Profiles you will really need the Enterprise Plus edition.

Hello Genevt,
Active directory integration with ESXi host does not require Enterprise plus licensing, I presume the book mentions using AD integration along with host profiles. You need to have Enterprise plus license for host profiles.
To check the licensed features on an ESXi host:
1.Navigate to the Configuration tab of the host
2.Click Licensed features.
Thanks guys, that's what I figured. I just tried it with ESXi "free" licensing and it works too, so no license requirement there. Have a good one!
