Fresh install of VC 6.0 update1 failing.

Fresh install of VC 6.0 update1 failing.

VMware-VIMSetup-all-6.0.0-3040890

Tried on windows 2008 R2 ent SP1.


Tried multiple times by cleanup the folders/services, still no success as of now.

Any help on this is much appreciated.

Another point: even after installation failed, VMware vCenter configuration service is up and running.this only 1 vmwre service visible in. dont know why did the cleanup not happened for this??

Hi I'm having the same issue as well on a fresh install. Can't put my finger on it either. Smiley Sad

So believe it or not, two minutes after posting my issue, I got it working :smileygrin:

I did a couple of things that hopefully got it working.

1. just randomly went and ran X:\vCenter-Server\Packages\VCSServiceManager.msi to see if it ran, which it did (no errors)

(got this in the vminst.log)

2. Dropped my UAC settings from notify me when apps try to changes to my computer (Default) => Never notify me

3. Ran X:\vCenter-Server\VMware-vCenter-Server.exe as Administrator (even though I was an admin)

Even though that Vcenter server looked like it installed.   none of the services are running..  back to the drawing board for me
