Hi,
I'm setting up for a client a worldwide VCSA solution with an external UMDS in DMZ.
Running ESXi on HP servers only they used to update only from http://vibsdepot.hpe.com//index-drv.xml and were hoping to keep it that way.
I did set up UMDS in my personal lab and successfully added HP source :
user@umds:~$ sudo /usr/local/vmware-umds/bin/vmware-umds -G
Configured URLs
URL Type Removable URL
HOST NO
HOST NO https://hostupdate.vmware.com/software/VUM/PRODUCTION/main/vmw-depot-index.xml
HOST YES http://vibsdepot.hpe.com//index-drv.xml
Patch store location : /var/lib/vmware-umds
Export store location :
Proxy Server : Not configured
Host patch content download: enabled
Host Versions for which patch content will be downloaded:
embeddedEsx-6.0.0-INTL
But in the same time I would like to prevent UMDS to download from the official depot, which appears as not removable.
I'm thinking about blocking the URL in the system but this seems soooo wrong, does anyone come with a solution ?
Thanks !
EDIT : solution so far is blocking vmware.com via hosts file...
