Yesterday our vCenter server hung up and after it got rebooted, the vCenter service won't start. I have googled for answers and nothing quite fits. This is from the vpxd log:
error 'vpxdvpxddatastore'] Duplicate name (datastore1 (2)) in datastore folder
error 'vpxdvpsdMain'] [Vpxd::ServerApp::Init] Init failed: VpxdDatastore::Init(gDB) and a whole bunch of Backtraces
then the Failed to initial VMware VirtualCenter. Shutting down.....
Please help, not sure if I can open a ticket or not. Thanks.
Hi,
I assume this is a windows vCenter Server?
Can you post the whole vpxd.log for us to see?
How many hosts/clusters are connected?
If it were me, I'd be logging into the hosts directly to check the configuration of the datastores...purely based off the three lines that you've posted.
was the server patched?? Is the DB embededd or external.. ?
Can you check the DB drives that the vcneter access ?
Please let me know what kind of error you are getting when u connect through web client or vsphere client
