Error with datastore uploader in web client

Hi all.

I have a problem with uploading files via the vsphere web client. Just upload process will not start and progress is 0% all time.

JavaScript console output:

VMRC Probe version is: 5.5.0.1280474

CSP version is: 5.5.0.1279455

OVF Tool version is: 3.5.0.1274719

File Transfer, Client Support Plugin: upload function has been called.

File Transfer, Client Support Plugin: cancel function has been called.

An error occured on this page when communicating with the Client Integration Plugin. Error description: Error calling method on NPObject.

My environment

Ubuntu 12.04.3 LTS (3.8.0-32-generic) x86_64

Google Chrome Version 30.0.1599.114

VMware Client Integration Plugin 5.5.0 x86_64

VMware vCenter 5.5.0 build 1312298

Has anyone had similar problems?

Same issue here.  Since there isn't a new enough Flash version for Firefox, we are stuck with Chrome.  Would be nice to have this functionality.

Just so you know you are not alone, I have the same issue running Ubuntu + Google Chrome and a 5.5 vCenter (both VCSA and Windows install).

I'm having the same issue here as well. RHEL6.5, Google Chrome, VMware 5.5. Has anyone resolved this beyond relying on a Windows desktop for administration?

Same issue here. I'm using Ubuntu 14.04 + Chrome and the problem is the same.

Chrome console shows:

Created VMRC plugin with id: __PROBE_VMRC_INSTANCE VM57:191

Created plugin with id: instance0 VM57:227

VMRC Probe version is: 5.5.0.1587018 VM57:46

CSP version is: 5.5.0.1579656 VM57:85

OVF Tool version is: 3.5.0.1385944  VM57:110

File Transfer, Client Support Plugin: upload function has been called.

But vsphere client shows "Progress 0%" and nothing happens.

Any news some solution or workaround?

Thanks.

D.

Hi All,

May I know if you are using 64 or 32 bit browsers ?

Please note that currently Uploading files from the vSphere Web Client to a datastore is not supported with 64-bit browsers.

My distros are 64bit as well.  What are the plans for 64bit support?

I'm yet to find out the challenges with 64 bit browser. I'm hoping it will be supported from vSphere 6. Once I have relevant information I will share it in this thread.

Even worse now...

It seems that with the release of Chrome 35, support for NPAPI plugins are not allowed.  This seems to include the VMWare client plugin.  Now both Chrome and Firefox are unusable on Linux.  Any suggestions?
