Dear All – I was been asked from a guy that “Enabling FT is not worthy in all cases, so what are all that cases and most of the infrastructures FT is not being used – why?”
Please help me to with all propagations to make this vibrant.
Many thanks for your responses –
AFAIK main reason behind VMware FT is that this feature does not monitor the application its still only virtual machine protection so you need to still worry about the application running on it and how it will be protected.
There are some limitations with FT, you should have in mind: It support SMP since vSphere 6.0, with older editions you can use only 1 vCPU. You need 10GB connection between hosts (40GB is recommended) and the VM will still run slower than without FT - vSphere FT slow down the primary VM Licensing is questionable (some vendor can still say that the VM is actually running twice)....
These are some FAQ that will explain the limitation on FT
and also VMware has made some Enhancement in 6.0,
FT provides only host level protection , if the primary instance OS crashes the secondary instance of the server is also a crashed copy.,
