Hi All,
I have a client who is running ESXi 5.5 hosts in a cluster and I need to enable EVC on this cluster for migration purposes. Currently I get validation successful on Westmere CPU option. Does this mean that if I enable EVC with Westmere CPU option, I do not need to shutdown any VMs or any impact of the running VMs?
Please advise?
Thanks
Ajay
If you are getting validation successful with Westmere, then yes you can safely enable EVC without shutting down your VMs.
See what the official documentation says: Enable EVC on an Existing Cluster in the vSphere Web Client
And if your vCenter is running as a VM on that cluster, additional steps will be required, see: How to enable EVC in vCenter Server (1013111) | VMware KB
Thanks Richardson,
in the link, it states "Power off all the virtual machines on the hosts with feature sets greater than the EVC mode"
in my case, I want it to be validated EVC mode, then that should be ok?
Regards
Ajay
Please, tell us your CPU models?
