Email alerts from VCSA have stopped

Running the vCenter Server Appliance v6.5 Build 8815520.  We recently noticed that we hadn't seen any vCenter email alerts for several weeks so we started digging around.  Looking at the mail setup, it hadn't changed and was still correct.  We looked at our Exchange servers and noticed that the last email processed through them was on 8/3/18.  They are still configured to allow relaying for the vCenter server via IP address.  I have read through several issues where users have had to change the mail server address to something different, then change back and it works.  I've tried that and nothing.  Exchange isn't seeing any emails, so what log on the VCSA do I need to look at and how?

check /var/log/messages on the VCSA 6.5 and search for mail/smtp etc in that file...

Thanks,

There have been a couple of issues with mail alerts in version 6.5.

Please take a look at the following KB articles:

https://kb.vmware.com/s/article/54526 (that's most likely what you've already tried)

https://kb.vmware.com/s/article/49725 (this one did help a couple of other users already)
