ESXi and vCenter licenses

Guys,

I have a client who has multiple ESXi hosts (free version) in multiple sites who has now decided to have them managed centrally. Would they be able to manage all with only a purchased vCenter license only, or they also have to purchase ESXi host license?

Esxi hosts with the free Hypervisor license cannot be managed using vCenter Server. Please take a look at e.g. Compare VMware vSphere Editions and Kits Comparison | United States for licensing options (e.g. Branch Office licensing).
