Hi there,
I am having an odd issue I have never encountered before on ESXi. I have set up a single standalone ESXi server (version 6.5.0) to host some VM's for a lab/test environment. All has been working really well until recently. I wanted all VM's hidden behind an internal (virtual) firewall to prevent any unwanted traffic making it onto the LAN. Thus I created a new portgroup called "Internal VM Network" and put all my lab VM's onto that network. All has been working fine...
However now whenever I look at the management pane for any of my VM's, they all show a yellow warning that states "This VM is attached to a network portgroup Internal VM Network that doesn't exist."
However the Internal VM Network portgroup does indeed exist - though it is not showing any VM's attached to it. It is however still operational - all VM's on this network are accessible, and can talk to each other. It is almost as if the ESXi management interface has lost track of the existence of this network for VM's, but the underlying hypervisor hasn't.
Hope that explanation makes sense - really not sure right now how to go about fixing this. If anyone could help me debug and point me in the right direction, I would very much appreciate it.
Kind regards,
James
