i have 5 hosts in a vcenter, and two of them are marked not responding, but the vms appear ok (running), but disconnected state.
no actions can be taken on them though
the hosts are pingable, i can ssh, but i cannot web ui log in, it says timed out after entering user/pass
via the idrac, it doesnt accept my user/pass input, its either laggy or just not responding.
vpxa and hostd are running , what else can i check/do?
disk space on the host and mem usage appear ok also.
looks like its latency to our san
you are guessing or it's a known issue and a solution?
Reboot will help for sure, in case VMs are responding shut down them via guest OS. because you will not be able to make a backup at night.
My commvault became crazy when was the same issue.
my san guy is showing disconnects to storage, and that lun is low on space...
trying to avoid a host reboot.
Have you tried to restart the services of that ESXi host?
during restart VMs will be working without interruption
will that cause issues with vms.
these commands?
/etc/init.d/hostd restart
/etc/init.d/vpxa restart
To be honest I was pointing to another command.
there wont be an effect on the running vms correct?
one of the hosts has just come back on its own.
gone back to not responding
I had similar issue quite a while back and what I did to fix the issue was rebooting vCenter server VM.
The host went into disconnect status whenever Veeam Backup wants to take VM snapshots on the host to run scheduled backup jobs.
Hope that helps
