Hello,
I have 2 ESX running ESXi 5.0 U3 in a cluster.
The VMs are using the DVs switch.
Now I need to upgrade firmware and patches ESX and due to lack of ressources only one ESXi will not have enough ressources to hold all vms.
I have another ESXi and want to add it the the cluster but I can't enable DVS on it(lack of network port).
My questions are as follows:
1. Is this possible to have a cluster with 2 ESXi with DVS and 1ESX with STD switch?
2. Can I live migrate the VMs from an ESXi which is using DVS to the ESX that has only STD switch?
Thanking you in advance
Regards
Nicolas
You can migrate VM from ESXi DV to ESXi STD ,but you need to have same port group available in STD Switch
Ok thank you Jinuv....
If I got it well....
If in my cluster the DVswitch has for example vlan100, vlan200, vlan300, vlan400, after adding the new esx to the cluster, I have to manually create these VLANS on the new STD switch of the new ESXi? And I will be able tho live migrate VM from ESXi with DVS to ESX with STD without any downtime?
