Deploy vmTools version higher than the host?

I know that there are several methods to push out a new version of vmTools but I am hoping that, with LCM, I have the flexibility to push out a version to guests that's higher (newer) than what the hosts have.

If not, I guess I'll drop this newer version onto the /vmimages/tools-isoimages  directory of all of my hosts. Or, pursue getting a symlink to /productLocker directory.

I always prefer updating the /productLocker directory to a different location than default and keep on updating the tools iso there when I want to update . You can always go higher VMtools version than what comes with ESXI version default.
