DIFFERENT CPU HOSTS CLUSTER

Hi,

I have a cluster with 4 hosts. Each host has 4 CPU Intel Xeon Platinum 8260 Processor.

Now im planning to add 4 more hosts to cluster. Each host has 4 CPU Intel Xeon Gold 6348h.

Is it possible to do cluster with these 8 hosts?

My vCenter version is 7.0

@cemalettin

We have a lab with in different servers (all other CPU, RAM) no issue known, all inside of one cluster.

If the two CPUs are not from the same generation with the same instruction-set, you need to activate EVC.

With “VMware Compatibility Guide” you can check it and eventually find out what EVC baseline you have to choose.

Activating the EVC on a productive Cluster can be challenging. You have to create a new cluster and the move the resources.
