Customize Alerts

Hi,

I need to customize alerts in vCenter6.5 u1 via vSphere web client.

We have (2) COLO-Datacenter and DR-site.

The Idea is when we receive the alert's we don't know where is coming from.

Please advise.

Thank you

Happy New year!!!

Are you wanting to be able to be able to tell if an alert is generated in Colo separately from the DR site? Do you have a single vCenter for both sites or does each one have it's own vCenter? If you have two, the simple solution is to just create a different "from" address in the SMTP settings.

Yes,

each location have own vCenter.

But under Configure>General> Edit>Mail I don't see SMTP. I Have SNMP receivers. Or under Mail have (mail server & mail sender )

Pretty sure all you need to do is fill in the Mail Sender field with an address

Per the documentation, Configure Mail Sender Settings, the mail server is your SMTP server and the sender account is the email address of the sender. (Remember to use the full address, including domain name) So for your colo vCenter server, you might use vCenter-colo@company.com and for the DR site use vCenter-DR@company.com

Ok,

We have one standard email address [alert@company.com]

Can we customize the Subject only Subject: [VMware vCenter - Alarm alarm.VmCPUUsageAlarm] alarm.VmCPUUsageAlarm changed status from Green to Red]?
