    Hello All,

Would like to know if it would be possible to convert an EC2 linux instance to vsphere environment? Is this supported?

    OS: RHEL 7.5

I see documentation for windows, but for linux couldn't find any:

    https://docs.vmware.com/en/vCenter-Converter-Standalone/6.2/com.vmware.convsa.guide/GUID-D2A2727A-18AB-4575-9F8C-8EB9DEA71180.html

Supported Source Types from Page 21 and 22 https://www.vmware.com/pdf/convsa_60_guide.pdfPOCEH

I believe the reason why the EC2 linux is not available as an import option with standalone converter is because the import requires the converter to be installed on the EC2 instance.

and the converter standalone comes in .exe.

I have not used this but there is

which has a .tgz download.. Again its something I have not tried, I did not find a doc for open source converter which talks about  : Remote Hot Cloning of Powered On Source Machines That Are Running Linux.

there are other options available out there like the VM Import/Export which might help you get the VM back to your on-premises environment

I think we can install converter on a windows VM and use "Remote Power ON" option to convert linux machines.

    will check open source converter

The Linux conversion is not similar to Windows conversion. This is because it not mention specifically - you need to try to convert as live Linux source.

Select as source Remote Linux machine, enter IP and credentials for your Linux and that's all.
