Clone a Linux vm

Hi team,

I have created a clone for Linux vm,before power on the vm what are the steps have to take to avoid conflict.?

will these steps work

right click vm--edit sett--nic--remove.

power on

change ip and host name through command --- vi /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/

finally add nic to the vm

correct me i am wrong.

regarding removing vNIC, you don't have to do that.

just edit settings of the VM and remove tick mark 'Connect at Power On' (Hope you are using Automatic MAC Generation, not manual)

power it on, change Host name, network settings etc.. should be sufficient.

If you have cloned VM using vCenter server, then consider using Customisation Specification manager to automate it for you.
