Centos 7.6 selection for Guest Operating Systems

I am building  the VM machine on a vCenter 6.5.  Curious as to what the Guest Operating Systems selection should be.  I have chosen "Linux - Centos 7 (64 bit)" option.   There is another choice for "Centos 4/5 or later (64bit)".

In the past, I have chosen other, etc.

Hi,

the choise is not important as much. It is used to mount proper VM Tools iso file when You want to install it using Guest > Install/Upgrade VMware Tools.

It has other implications as well (hardware templating, clone spec type calling, etc.). If you want to ensure backwards compatibility, I'd recommend not choosing CentOS 7 as this was only a supported type as of 6.5.
