Broken Vcenter 6 server appliance on esxi 6 host. no webgui.

Hi guys, im new to vmware so bear with me.

I downloaded the vcenter appliance from the vmware website and loaded it on my esxi 6 host.  It boots, it grabs a dhcp address of 10.0.0.103 (whats the deal with the vshpere switch acting like a dhcp server by the way?)  I had another guest OS ping the private IP that was being handed out by the ESXI machine with no problems.

When i get the "to manage this VC brows to https://10.0.0.103:5480"   i try from the other guest on the same network to browse to that address in chrome and i get "page cannot be displayed".

I followed the documentation perfectly (a monkey could have done this), on supported hardware/software, and it's broken out of the box.

Tried to report to vmware over the phone that thier download was broken, unfortunately got someone overseas that put me on hold just to tell me it would cost me 300 bucks to report it.  I just dumped money on a license for a working product so that wasn't gonna happen.

Any suggestions?

I suppose i could give up on the appliance and instead throw it on a windows server VM, but i was hoping to avoid the extra overhead.

[ak] VAMI or port 5480 is no longer supported in vCenter 6.0 appliance. You can directly open the webclient with the IP address of the VC(ex:https://10.0.0.103 or https://10.0.0.103:9443). Please follow "vSphere 6.0 Installation and Setup" guide for Deploy the vCenter Server Appliance with an Embedded Platform Services Controller and Login to vCenter server using webclient details

Unfortunately that doesn't work either.

You can press F2 in the VCSA direct console (i.e. in vSphere Client connected to ESXi) to configure networking. All management options are either there, or in the vSphere Web Client. If the latter is unavailable, the direct console also provides CLI access.
