This is a very common problem with snapshot based backup solution and a workaround is remove the disk from Avamar (without select the option of delete from the disk) and on affected virtual machine try the consolidation process... if still not works, of no snapshots shows up on snapshot manager, try create a new snapshot on the affected virtual machine and then delete the snapshot with the option "Delete All".

I believe right now, we are receiving a message called VM disk consolidation is required for that virtual machine, right?

Yes, as Rich mentioned, you need to unpresent this disk from the backup solution.

Then you can try a manual consolidation from the GUI for the VM. (There might be no snapshots in the snapshot manager, but the hard disk might be still running on a snapshot when viewed through the VM settings)

If this fails, then you can take a SSH to the host where this VM resides and change directory to the VM Folder

Here you can move the ctk files to a temp folder and then consolidate the VM again.
