Autodeploy 5.1 stateful installation - Problem determining "disk"

Hello,

I just finished up setting VMware Autodeploy on our environment which involves Cisco UCS.

Currently, I am able to boot the ESXi on B200 M3 blades through STATELESS installations. Our requirement is to configure a STATEFUL installation and so I was looking at various documentations (VMware vSphere 5.1) for configuring STATEFUL installations. The thing I am getting confused is the "Arguments for the first disk" in the host profiles. What exact parameter should I provide it over here so that the ESXi is booted from the BootLUN (5 GB) that is attached to the ESXi host. I have attached a boot lun of 5GB to the ESXi host and want the ESXi to be installed there. How can I make sure that autodeploy won't overwrite or install it over the other existing LUNs.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Thank you

Nik

1) Select "Stateful Install" from drop down menu in host profile.

2) Use "remote" in "Arguments for first disk" field

As the field says, it is asking for a path to search for first disk. So make sure your boot LUN (5GB) is the first disk attached to your HBAs (SCSI ID 0)
