Administrator@vSphere.local password reset failed

Hi Everyone,

I would like to receive the advise or support regarding the password reset failed for Administrator@vSphere.local.

Here is our current situation.

Our vCenter Server Appliance (6.7.0.44000) has certificate expired, so we are not able to login through Web Interface.

In order to renew the certificate, we have to login the vCenter Server Appliance with administrator account, but not with root account.

Our administrator@vSphere.local password is lost, so we tried to reset the password through vdcadmintool, but we got the error,

VmDirForceResetPassword failed (9126).

 

I would like to get an assistance to retrieve or reset the password.

you need to reset the root password. You have two options:

Check the domain name whether vsphere.local or not. 

To get domain name: /usr/lib/vmware-vmafd/bin/vmafd-cli get-domain-name --server-name localhost

It must be administrator@domain.name

 

Also, you can try vsphere with lower cases instead of upper case.
