6.5 and vswap

Hello,

we do have an esxi6.5 cluster that leverage on datastore-cluster over nfs (ie: 4x different nfs mount point seen logically as one).

I was thinking as possible optimization to use local ESXi hdd as vswap area though vmotion will then be a bit slower due to vswap relocation.

At the cluster level I configured:

Configuration->General->Swap file location: Datastore specified by host

At ESXi level I configured:

Configure->System->System Swap: added "Can use datastore xxxxx"

then I looked at:

Configure->Virtual Machines->Swap File Location->Default Swapfile Location: No datastore specified. Location defaults to the virtual machine directory.

If i try to Edit the swap file location settings to set "Use a specific datatore" I see all options grayed out.

What am I missing here ?

Thx,

A.

Hello,

it seems I managed to set the datastore as default vswap area.

Now lets do some testing to evaluate if it brings any advantage.

Thx,
