2 cores per socket

 

I was asked to set up a virtual machine as below. Core: 24 (2 cores per socket) was requested in the request. how do I configure it via vcenter. As 1x24 or 2x12 ?

 

Os: Red Hat 7.9 (vmware)
Core: 24 (2 cores per socket)
RAM: 64 GB
FS: 300 GB

 

Esxi 6.7 server specs.

What workload is it running to need 24 cores?

it doesn't matter if you are using vmware hardware v8 or above, the virtual NUMA info is provided to the VM, so it knows the layout. The core and socket count can be used to reduce license costs if per socket, not per core.
