It sounds to me like you want to use shared folders like this: http://www.vmware.com/support/ws45/doc/running_sharefold_ws.html

What product are you using? Depending on your answer, there we'll be different solutions.

VMware VIX can also be a solution along with shared folders, the latter is only available on few of VMware's desktop product. You also have SSH and RDP depending on your guestOS
