zero bytes in file by using shared folders with MS embedded visual c++

Hi,

I have a problem with using Microsft embedded Visual C++ (V3 and V4). When I have the project in a shared folder, there are just zero bytes in the output files (DLL or EXE). If it is on another network volume or even if I use the shared folder as a network volume of the host PC, everything works fine.

host and guest are running XP SP2, the host is member of a domain, guest is member of a workgroup, the name does not matter. The problem occurs oif the workgroup name is identical to the domain name or if it is different.

Is there anyone who had a similar problem ?

Best regards

Matthias

Yet another of the reasons most of us don't use the VMware Shared Folders feature. Use standard network file share methods (Windows File Sharing / Samba) instead.

Hi,

I am using 5.5.3-build 34685, which is at least the most recent version.

Sharing the files by normal Windows network is of course a solution, but will have problems, if the virtual machine and the host don't share the same domain.

Best regards
