workstation 5.5 3d acceleration

Host: Linux (ubuntu gusty)

Guest: winxp

Card: ATI radeon 9250 with 256MB VRAM

I can enable 3d acceleration and vmware doesn't complain about not able to construct 3d pipeline, but when I run dxdiag in Windows none of the direct3d tests work. In the log I see lots of this:

Sep 30 00:34:05: mks| Couldn't get a suitable GLXFBConfig.

Sep 30 00:34:05: mks| Host running out of vram in creating a new context

Sep 30 00:34:05: mks|

Sep 30 00:34:05: mks| <<< Log Throttled >>>

I don't understand why it complains that the host is running out of VRAM. I even tried to lower host screen size and bit depth, but same error. I also tried different values of svga.vramSize, from 16MB to 128MB (16, 32, 64, 128).

Any help would be really appreciated.

Did you try with svga.vramSize = "67108864"

(for some reason I get an email for the reply but the reply doesn't show up in the thread)

Yes, I've tried svga.vramSize settings 16MB, 32MB, 64MB, 128MB, and yes, I did convert them to bytes Smiley Happy
