hi
my cpu supports AMD-V/RVI and i set the preferred mode in virtualization engine to amd-v/rvi
what does this http://i.imgur.com/pIcPWKK.png do?
Hello,
The only reason to set that checkbox is if you want to run virtual machines in your virtual machine.
I'm not kidding. Most often this is being used by IT professionals to run tests with virtualisation products.
With this set you can install VMware Workstation in your guest, or Hyper-V or VMware vSphere or ...
Needless to say is that a virtual machine running within a virtual machine doesn't give you the best performance, but it certainly runs well enough for tests.
Most people don't need that.
PS: It is also generally a bad idea to change preferred mode as it makes your virtual machine less portable. VMware Workstation normally does pick the best mode to use for your guest by itself.

I discovered that this feature is needed to able to run Docker in my VM. This is something I find very useful because I do a lot of testing with Docker, and I don't want to do this on my host in case I manage to ruin it somehow.
Being able to run Docker in my VM is so helpful. If something fails to the point where I can't recover, I can simply recreate the VM.
