*.vmx file keeps removing changes

Hi folks,

Completely new to this forum and a fairly novice VMWare user, wonder if anyone can maybe advise please?

I use VMWare Workstation Pro (17) for work. Recently we had the Win11 update forced on us and since then my VM performance was quantifiably 3x slower than it had been under Win10 and constantly locked up on me.

I found a fix to this on spiceworks that requires adding the below line of text to my VMs vmx file:

isolation.tools.unity.disable = "TRUE"

Unfortunately VMWare seems to remove this value every time I shut the VM down. Is there any way to make this permanent?

Thank you for any help!

Are you editing the vmx file with Workstation closed?  If the VM is running/open, most of the time any edits will be reverted/overwritten by Workstation when you do shut down the VM and close it.
