vmworkstation 12pro and Could not open /dev/vmmon: No such file or directory.

My computer went nuts, and I had to reformat my hard drive and start from scratch.

I think my old OS was 16.X and that is what gave me problems.

i have installed 14.x, reinstalled mworkstation, and keep getting the following:

Could not open /dev/vmmon: No such file or directory.

I found an article that said the drivers were not registered, and I went through their recommendation, but it is still

coming up with the exact same error.

I tried uninstalling the latest version and installing the exact version I had before the crash.  SAme thing.

Anyone have a good idea that can help me out?

Dwayne

Hello Dwayne,

From the OS version I guess you are using Linux, can you disable secure boot from UEFI options in the BIOS, as per the link below:

Virtual machine fails to start on a Linux host and reports the error: Could not open /dev/vmmon: No ...

Let me know how it goes!
