vmware-workstation 7.1.3 GUI crash

Hi,

I am running an eval version of the vmware workstation. 7.1.3 on a gentoo ~amd64, kernel 2.6.36-gentoo-r5

I have patched the modules to make them compile as described in http://communities.vmware.com/thread/286119.

The issue I am experiencing is that I can start any one of the existing vm's, but almost any GUI interaction is causing an immediate crash with no error messages. For example, if I am to change the selection in the 'Favorites' tab, or if I try to 'Add...' a device to an existing VM, the GUI just crashes on me.

I've attached the UI log with some backtraces. I'd appreciate if someone could point me in the right direction how to deal with this.

Thanks!

Hi,

sorry, no solution. Yersterday i ran in exactly the same problem it seems, except the vm is licensed.

amd64

2.6.36-gentoo-r5 #1 SMP PREEMPT Sun Jan 23 00:06:51 CET 2011 x86_64 Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Duo CPU E8400 @ 3.00GHz GenuineIntel GNU/Linux

vmmon patch from here http://communities.vmware.com/thread/286119 (patch-modules_v4.sh)

This is, i think, not kernel related. I guess something with xorg. Because yesterday i had an emerge -va world, which did not upodate kernel but some x related stuff. The last big emerge was end of january.
