vmware workstation 6.0.2 with 64 bits guest

Hi,

I'm unable to start a 64bits guest on my vmware workstation 6. When the virtual machine starts, this message is shown:

You have configured this virtual machine to use a 64-bit guest operating system. However, this host's CPU is not capable of running 64-bit virtual machines or this virtual machine has 64-bit support disabled.

For more detailed information, see

My VMware workstation is installed on a VAIO VGN-BX396VP notebook with Core 2 T5600 processor and Windows Vista 64 bits.

When I execute the vmware tool to check the processor capability for 64 bits guest, the test is passed.

Any help will be apprecied.

You have to enable VT in the BIOS.

If this option isn't present and there's no fixed BIOS available you're out of luck.

It is most likely turned off in the Sony bios. If Sony doesn't allow this to be turned on then you are stuck. You can write to Sony and ask them. It worked for HP.
