Hello,
i'm having issue with nat in vm's.
i have 3 vm with server 2016 - 1 DC en 2 members
network adapter is set to NAT on vnet8 subnet 192.168.124.0
all vm's have ip in this range. i have set the dns ip to dc server > no internet access
ping 8.8.8.8 works, ping www.google.com also seems to work
i have restored default of network
i have reinstalled tools
disabled firewall in all 3 vm's
i really need this to work, because we have to do practices for school and i need to have this working.
the only way i get internet is when i add the gateway 192.168.124.2 as dns server
anyone idea ?
What you may try is to configure DNS forwarding to 192.168.124.2 on the DC for all but the own domain.
André
Did you configure forward and reverse look up zones in the DC (DNS server configuration)?
Lou
yes,
i have a forwared lookup zone en created a reverse lookup zone
What you may try is to configure DNS forwarding to 192.168.124.2 on the DC for all but the own domain.
André
do you mean create a forwarder to 192.168.124.2 on DC in DNS ?
like this:
or do you mean something else ? ....
Yes, domain members ask the DC, and the DC - unless it cannot resolve the address - forwards the request to the NAT/DNS address.
André
i'll give this a try, thank you
okay this work. thanx for the help.
this also seemd to have worked for my member server. they only have the dns ip for dc > but it seems to work now
thank you so much for your help, this has given me some more insight to DNS.
i still need to learn much about this.
thanx !
