I am also looking for help with this. For now i rolled-back to the previous kernel (4.9.0-kali1-amd64).

Same here. I thought about just rolling back my original kernel, or changing the gcc if that is the problem, but I've heard if I did that it might mess up my ability to use bumblebeed... Anybody know for sure? I've been using both bumblebeed and vmware together without issue up until this update.

According to the release notes, Workstation 12.5.3, released 9 Mar 2017, resolves the issue with kernel 4.9
