vmware-vmx process hangs, 100% CPU on window resize

I have an Ubuntu 13.10 guest running on a Ubuntu 10.04 host with vmware 9.0.3 build 1410761.  I have vmware tools 9.2.4.27715 build 1398046 installed in the guest.  More often then not when I resize the vmware window or enter full screen mode the vmware-vmx process hangs and consumes 100% CPU.  This only happens if vmware tools is installed (also happened with open-vm-tools).  I realize Ubuntu 10.0.4 is old but would like to use it until 14.04 comes out in April.  Any ideas how to work around this bug?

Welcome to the communities.

First you need to check graphics compatibility and Drivers are upto dated.

Secondly if not installed please install vmware tool.
