I am running Workstation 6.5.5-build 328052 on Windows 7 on a Dell Latitude D630 laptop. Everything is working fine but I see what appears to be excessive polling of a group of registry keys by the vmware-vmx process. It issues approximately 32 registry reads per second on a "O2Micro CCID SC Reader" Cryptography section (see attached procmon output). The vmware.log seems to think it is a USB device but my device manager seems to think it is the PCMCIA device. It just keeps polling the same set of registry keys over and over.
Does anyone know why this might be and how to stop it? I tried disabling the PCMCIA smartcard device in the Device Manager... nothing different.
