vmware gouest not able to ping stand alone window xp host.

My standalone Window xp sp3 machine is running VMWARE workstation 7.0  with Red hat 5.0. as Guest O/S.  On Red Hat Linux 5.0 Oracle 11g is  running fine.

I have configured the n/w so I am able to access guest Red  Hat Linux from host window xp as The red hat has the ip address and i am able to ping it through  a loopback adapter . Although I am not able to access the host from  guest because window machine has no IP address. How can i assign ip  address so that i can access the host from guest. OR if there is some  other way round .

I have already assigned ip address to the guest Red hat . But i am not able to stassign any static ip to host because it always shows unplugged what ever IP assigned . I can easily ping from host to guest but reverse is not true as
