vmware Workstation Pro 12. how can i force a prompt for "moved" or "copy"

moved the image to a new machine.

I thought I selected "moved" not "copy" when the image was first started.

when running the machine I get a prompt to "re-activate" the windows. however the machine I moved the virtual machine to a host machine that does not have internet access.

the VM image is for lab and development.

when I attempt to restore the image it continues to assume it was "copied". I need to reset the image to prompt if it was "moved" anew. is there away to do this?

Hi,

You 'reset' this logic by moving it to another folder location.

it did work.

but still having issue with the Windows Activation. but it could be due to a network issue. ipconfig does not show a valid ip address.

Hi,

Not having an ip address should not trigger Windows Activation.

But a difference in Processor might trigger activation if they are different enough from the original one.
