vmware 6: Fedora 6 no longer works after update. FC7 wont install either.

I am running WS build 39849. I updated Fedora core 6 (which included a kernel), and it no longer finds to root fs. The old kernel still works. FC7T2 wont install, as it cant find a drive to install to.

XP64 host. Opteron 170, 4 gigs ram.
