vmware 15.5.7: line 105 - segmentation fault core dumped

I am using ubuntu 20.04 ( fresh installed ) and vmware workstation 15.5.7 (licensed version).

After installing vmware using "$ sudo VMware-Workstation-Full-15.5.7-17171714.x86_64.bundle",  I am starting it using "$ vmware", but here i am getting the below error message

/usr/bin/vmware: line 105: 10650 Segmentation fault (core dumped) "$BINDIR"/vmware-modconfig --appname="VMware Workstation" --icon="vmware-workstation"

This has been discussed here multiple times already. It's a known problem of Workstation 15.5.x when running on kernel 5.8 or newer which, sadly, VMware is unlikely to fix. See e.g.
