virtualize ubuntu system

i need to virtualize an ubuntu 16.04 server on dell hardware into a vmware 6.5 world with your converter.

is there documentation on the process and any follow-up, and, if the process completes correctly, what is the status / condition

of the original device?  i have to believe it's still running & operational if needed.

if, for some reason the process goes bad or terminates, again what happens to the original device?

VMware Converter doesn't officially support Ubuntu 16.04 yet. The latest version it supports (as of 6.1.1) is 15.10. Try it and it may work for you, but it's not technically supported.
