Hi,

I have configure a vm machine to use Bridge Network connection.

It able to get the DHCP IP Address from my router. The same range of IP received by my notebook.

From the VM, it cannot ping my physical notebook and also cannot go to internet.

What should I do?

What should I do?

Start with disabling all firewalls and try again. If that doesn't work post which which host and guest OS you use and the IP configuration of both ("ipconfig /all" or "ifconfig -a").

Hi,

The firwall has been disabled on the physical Notebook XP Machine.

A windows 2003 Firewall also disabled. I taking DHCP IP Address for testing purpose before I put static IP Address of that range.

Thanks for your assistance

If I select customer vmnet0 (Bridge), it still how request time out.

The DHCP Services on the Virtual machine software is disabled. The IP it get currently is from my internet router that has given to the virtual machine

Your network setup looks fine, so far. The fact that you get an DHCP address shows that networking is working. However pinging the host should be possible. Do you use the IP address to ping or a host name? Try the address first.

That you can't connect to the Internet might be due to security rules on the Internet device (MAC address filterig is a popular example). Switch the guest to NAT to test that.

Disable TCP Chimney on the XP host. That is a know issue.

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\TCPIP\Parameters\DisableTaskOffload

Setting this value to 1 disables all task offloads from the TCP/IP transport. Setting this value to zero enables all task offloads.

Hi,

I try to ping IP Address previously.

DisableTaskOffload is set to 1 previously.

Using NAT does not work either. It show request time out. If I used custom(NAT), it does not get the DHCP IP Address from the router.

I also cannot ping my router interface if using vmnet0

That it does not get an address from the DHCP router is correct. By using NAT you put the guest in a different (virtual) network and it gets an DHCP address from the internal VMware DHCP server (if you haven't changed the default. That is maybe the reason why NAT doesn't work. You may have given it the wrong IP address manually. Can you post the IP setup while the guest uses NAT?
